12/640 PS Laserwriter...HELP !!!

My Mac G4 AGP running under OS X 10.3.9 (also has classic system 9.2.2)
does not want to "see" my 12/640 PS printer, simply does not even show up in the system profiler.

Before I moved to my new location, that printer ran perfectly on (another) G4.

I changed cables, everything. No money to buy a new printer and not even sure that would be the solution.

HELP please !!!

Thank you,

Takeo.

If its not in the system profiler then you have either a bad USB port (on the Mac or the Printer) or you have a bad wire, so i recommend changing the wires and using different USB ports, and if you can try the parallel port or something

Printer

Thank you very much for your reply Edman !

That printer was working perfectly on its other location, also on a G4.

When I moved, I got another G4, that i renewed completely, mother board and all. The connection is by Ethernet cable, of which I bought 2 brand new ones. There is an adapter by the printer to allow the ethernet cable to be connected. The adapter has 2 leds, one for power, other for line.
Connection is over a WLinx mini-hub.

When I connect the printer direct to the G4, the line led does not come on. When I connect over the hub, it DOES come on. Very strange. So I suppose there is some sort of a connection established then, at least up to the adapter.

I do not know if it would be possible to connect with USB - need an adapter ? I dont have a parallel cable (would need 10 metres of it).

The whole thing is driving me mad.

Sincerely yours,

Takeo.
