What version of Mac OS are you using? Whichever it is, I'd suggest you try a fresh reinstall… since if you can’t start the computer up there’s little else you can do as far as I know .

Hope this helps,

Mark.

It´s OS X Panther (10.3)

I upgraded the original OX 10.2.8 to 10.3 but the problem persist.
You´re right, there´s little else i can do... As a last try I´ll reinstall as you say... thanks a lot my friend

Hi Augusto.

3 Beeps normally means your memory is not passing the tests at startup and It may need to be replaced.

I think this means the machine is working occasionally "it start just at the 10 purpose", so I would suspect the RAM first but it could also mean your logic board and or processor is bad.

If your machine is under warranty contact the provider with your problem.

If not, you can try reseating the bottom RAM chip (if installed). Remove the 4 screws from the base and lift it off. Gently pull the tabs either side of the chip to release it and then lift it out. Reinsert it at 45% and then push it back down until it clicks into place. There may also be diagrams on the inside of the base cover to show how the RAM chip should be removed and replaced.

There is another chip inside the machine that may also be the cause. You should take it to an Apple tech for this as it involves removing the processor heatsink and you could damage your machine if reinstalled incorrectly.

Good luck with it.
David.
