Do you still have the 9.2.2 disk?

To isntall 10.3 just pop the disk in, restart your computer, and hold c on the keboard until you see the screen that says intstall, pop up. I think there is an option to not overwrite old OS, or make it classic. If not, you will have to install it from the 9.2.2 disk.

try this: backup all your OS 9 data onto a CD, or a network volume. pop in that install disc and make your hard drive into 2 portions. title one OS 9 and one OS X. make sure you install mac os x on the "OS X". then, reinstall os 9.2.2 on the OS 9 portion, get all your data back.

good luck!

cheers,
ryan
