Apple worm
First time I've ever heard of Apple being attacked, but it seems that there is now a Malicious worm trying to bite Apple
I'm not up on Macs at all and know little about them, but it is the first time I have ever heard of a virus/worm to attack a Mac. |

Probably will be a lot more in the future, Apple is Asking for it ... like kids would never think of doing some things until their parents explicitly forbid it ...

There's every possibility I'm developing GOMS (grumpy old man syndrome), of which skepticism 101 is a required course, but what do you think the chances of Apple Anti Virus being ready for market ... or almost ... when do you think the panic will start, and will the upgrades be i-tunes ... oh it hurts to be this sKeptical

It's a tgz file that someone needs to a) unarchive, b) execute. That's all. F-Secure info.
There's also been a POC OSX bluetooth worm that was announced a few hours ago. Again, not likely to be a major thread (info) --Simon

my school (university of iowa) offers a mac version of symantec, I always wondered what that was for. I actually like macs but its about time obnoxious mac users got knocked down a peg, thats right, a peg!
(I just got a new processor and I can't contain my excitement!!) |

Crime Victim: Yeah they broke into my house and took all my good silverware, my tv, my stereo, computer and power tools
Cop: They broke in. Did they smash a window or pick a lock or what? Crime Victim: No, they came in through the front door I guess. Cop: They smashed the door in? Crime Victim: No, they probably just opened it, it's never locked. Cop: You don't lock your door? Crime Victim: No we never have any problem with crime here. A few months ago I bought a Granny Smith Apple and cut it open and there was a big ugly wiggly worm inside it. I was glad of my decision to cut it into slices instead of just biting into it. Never had that before. There's your infamous apple worm ;-) |

Well at least Mac users will take security more seriously now.
