Sorry for asking, but how do I boot to a disk OS like Knoppix or Slax on my Intel macbook? When the system runs POST, I dont see any information for boot options. This is my first laptop and my first apple, I chose it as an alternative to Windows, but unfortunantly I dont have a clue as to how to do these simple things.

hold option and a list of CD OSs should show up to boot to, or hold c to boot off the CD
but i'm not entirely sure that will just work, the intel macs don't have a BIOS, you need to emulate the BIOS to get most of those CDs to boot (unless its made to be bootable with EFI), all new macs come with all the stuff to emulate a BIOS, but i don't know if they will just do it, or if you need to use boot camp/rEFIt to make it work, on my mac i have rEFIt installed on my MBP and that takes over and searches/selects the OS you want to boot so i can't really test it on my Mac BTW, you also need to emulate the BIOS if you want to use accelerated graphics stuff because the ATI drivers don't support EFI
