Connect to Win2003 Server

Hi All,

I am a bit of a noobie when it comes to all things Mac. However, I have figured out most of the problems that I've had. Just the final problem with connecting to a Small Bis 2003 Server on our network.

I have managed to connect to other samba shares on the network (client WinXP machines) however when I try to connect to the Win2003 server I get a prompt for username and password. After entering my details my MacBook Pro can't seem to authenticate with the server.

I have been trawling Google for the answer, which has lead to me making changes to the local policies on the server (disabling digitally signed communications). However, this hasn't worked and I am all out of ideas.

Can anyone please offer assistance??

Found a solution!!

On the Win2003 server box open "regedit" and goto key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters

Then change the DWORD "RequireSecuritySigniture" from 1 to 0

Works a treat!

Thanks for the solution - really helped out one of the guys
at work!

Do you happen to know if changing this key is likely to have
any side-affects? We've previously only had Windows users
accessing the server, so hopefully this won't affect anything
for them!
