have I got a virus on my mac??

just the last day or two, every time I open an email containing HTML in Entourage it automatically closes itself down.

I've tried re-installing to no avail.

Might I have a virus??

Any thoughts?

I haven't used Entourage; I try to leave Microsoft stuff where it belongs – on Windows or in the bin – but I can answer your question with a 95% no. If you've done a clean install then unless you saved the virus when you backed up it's gone. That is of course assuming that you had one to begin with, which in itself is very unlikely since as far as I know there has only one Virus for Mac OS X . And that was totally harmless anyway .

So, I would suggest that you do a fresh install again and try using Entourage before loading any old emails or backed up work, just to be sure.

If that doesn't work then you could try repairing your disk permissions using the Disk Utility application. Also try deleting the preference file(s) for Entourage in ~/Library/Preferences/.

This might also be useful: OnyX .

Hope this helps,

Mark.

The html could be the problem. You could try using OS X's mail app, which I never had any problems with.

Did you try turning off HTML in your client?

yeah, just tried that and no difference.
I have noticed it's not all HTML messages though as some seem to open fine.
It seems to be perhaps when there is an attachment embedded in the email it just keels over and quits.
