Help!

I have a powerbook g4 and have been using it without any problems since last june. Just the other day though, I have noticed the operating system begining to slow down. Now it lags constantly even when I'm only running 2 or 3 programs. I have plenty of memory left. Everything runs so slow and the mutli-colored spin wheel thing is constantly showing up. Is this possibly happening b/c I have the "file vault" turned on? Please help!

I don't have 10.3 so I cant say anything about FileVault but...

A few things you could do. First run Anti-Virus (not many viruses for mac, but when there are, they are usually nasty), recover permissions by using disk utility in your Applications\Utilities folder (it is the one with the heart listening thingie) and that's about all I can think of...

If you've installed the 10.3.8 update then this could explain the spinning beach ball, which everyone is noticing. This is a pretty well known issue so Apple should fix this in the next update .

You might also want to reinstall the computer if it's been a long while since you have. Where this isn't required I do find it helps with this kinda thing.

Take care,

Mark.
