Question I have a problem when trying to forward an e-mail with a picture.

I have an OSX and within the past month or so when I try to forward an e-mail with pictures the size of the e-mail may jump from 300 KB to 3 MB. I don't have high speed internet available in our small community so it ties up my computer for up to an hour or longer, not to mention what it does to my friends' computers. I'm really computer illiterate, so any help (in dummies' terms) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help you can provide.

The image you're trying to send is too big. You need to use a program like Adobe Photoshop to make it smaller, or zip it, or stuff it etc. This is a developer forum, so you might try going to www.macfixit.com for more basic questions. Hope this helps!

yea, grab a quick trial version of Adobe Photoshop.

it's pretty straight foward, really. just resize your image to make it a little smaller: go to Image > Image Size... and resize to something not so big.

then Export as a GIF or whatever you want. then try it.

good luck!

There is also Gimp, a free graphics program similar to Photoshop. In fact some people prefer it. And it's free . It's also available for your Mac however you will need to pick up a copy of Apples X11 to run it.

Have fun,

Mark.

You could try to compress the picture before sending it. There are several ways to do this:
Right-click on the image and select "Create Archive of 'file.'"
or
Download the stuff-it tools from here and use DropStuff.

Then once you have compressed it, you can attatch it to your email with your client.
