Sorry about this elementary question, but...
I recently bought a G3 iBook from my sister and gave it to my wife. The problem is, I can't seem to find anywhere the place to change the basic user name. This screensaver keeps popping up saying "Margaret's Computer" -- and Beth doesn't like it! Thanks for your help. |

If you load up the System preferences (should be in the /Applications Directory), and select accounts.
This will list all the accounts on the computer, and allow you to change usernames. You won't be able to change the short username, but can change the displayed name. You could also just create a new account for your wife and copy all the files from Margarets account to the new account

If it is OS X I believe there is actually a way to change the short name. But this is touchy stuff! I would not advise it, so just do what Simon says.
Make a new account, prefferably limited user account and just remeber the Admin password. If you want to know how to change the short name without making a new account PM me. |
