Mac scripting?
What are some good scripting languages for macs other than perl & python and where can I find a good applescript tutorial?

I know it's very vague, but the best place to look is on Apple's Developer Resource. I tried learning AppleScript a few years ago, but found such insufficient information available that I just gave up. Hopefully it's changed by now

They've really stepped up AppleScript in the new versions of OS X. I know you could always do this, but if you're a complete n00b at AppleScripting, and just want to script it to do basic stuff, then you can "record" your actions and AppleScript will immediately convert whatever you do to the scripting language. I would definitely try the Apple Developer Resource, and you could also try this.

If you just want to accomplish a simple task, take a look at Automator.
