Osx

I've tried installing OSX, but when I do I get this message:

"An error has occurred. Startup disk was unable to select the install cd as startup disk. (-2)"

How did you try to install it? Did you Start the computer with the CD in the drive holding C or did you put it in while in an OS?

You need to boot from the CD in order to install the OS. Do this by what Darkest Hour said above.

I tried to boot from the cd, and it didn't work. Could there be another problem?

What model is it? It may be too old to run OS X.

I don't remember the specs on that particular model. But to install OS X(10.3) you need:

Built-in USB
at least 128MB of RAM
2 Gigs of space of 3.5 with developer tools.

There are some more requirements, search Apple's knowledge base for the rest.

Just thought this might be useful. You can find out all the details about Apples computers right up to the current modules at apple-history site.

http://www.apple-history.com/

On the plus side it does look like the G3 Ibook should be able to handle it (I could be looking at the wrong one). Although I would expect things to run a little slow. Like I also think that Tiger is a no go but it might be possible .

Anyway, Here's what Apple say on the System requirements subject:

http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/requirements.html

Hope this helps!

Mark.
