password protect usb external drive?

I just purchased a Firelite USB drive and unfortunately did not realize that the password protection from the software that comes with the drive only works on the firewire drives.

Is there any software (commercial or shareware) that I can use to password protect my portable drive?

Thanks in advance.

What about creating an encrypted disk image for the external HD? This should work with any external storage device regardless of how the disk is connected. This can be done using the Disk Utilities application in the Utilities directory.

Should be pretty easy to set up this way anyway,

Hope this helps,

Mark.
