You shouldn't have any problems - I've upgraded over 9.2 before safely.
OSX will use 9.2 as 'classic mode' which essentially runs 9.2 inside an emulator, and allows you to run your old programs fine. However, don't let OSX format the drive , and as always BACK UP before you upgrade.--Simon

Installing OS X over 9.2 - Tips
First off, you'll want to make sure that your version of OS 9 is fully up-to-date. 9.2.2 is the version you'll need to be ready for any version of OS X. If you have a slot-load iMac you also need to make sure that your iMac's firmware is up-to-date.
The best way to tell is to open the Software Update program. If you have an Internet connection, it should offer any appropriate updates for your machine including the 9.2.2 update and any firmware updates. Make sure any firmware updates are successfully installed (sometimes they just download to the desktop but require you to double-click and install them). Also be sure not to erase your hard drive during the OS X installation process. By default, the OS X installer will NOT erase your hard drive, but it's possible when you change certain options for OS X installation. |
