Will Powerbook G4 run OS X Tiger v10.4?

Hey guys,

Do you think a Powerbook G4 1Ghz with 512 MB RAM, will successfully run OS X Tiger v10.4?

Just wanted to check.. as it's currently running Panther.
I'm certainly no Mac expert and Googling revealed little.

Cheers..

Nathan

it will run, but i highly recommend upgrading to 1GB, with OSX 1GB is noticeably faster then 512MB, 10.4 is a tad slower then 10.3, but i suspect that upgrading to 10.4 and 1GB of RAM it will run a little faster then it does now (maybe a lot faster)

Hey thanks edman for the reply.

How easy is it to upgrade Mac's ram? I have no experience whatsoever with Mac hardware. Is it fairly cheap too?

Cheers.

for that computer it looks like you need to remove the keyboard, but it is user replaceable, first check the System Profiler (in /Applications/Utilities) and see if you have one 2 sticks of 256MB or one of 512MB, if you have one then you only need one more 512 to get 1GB, but if you have 2x256 then you need to replace both sticks and need to buy 2 sticks of RAM, as for the RAM, its $87 for 1 512MB stick at newegg here

the manual is here (PDF), at least i think thats it, (its for the 1Ghz/867Mhz powerbook) and it included direction on how to replace your RAM
