1and1 domain to use email but not hosting?

Hi all,

I have a domain registered with 1and1.co.uk, which has it's name servers pointing to slicehost, where my website is hosted.

Now I want to use the email services of 1and1 for this domain, so I've set the mxrecords to point to the 1and1 servers.

After having done this, I'm lost on what to do next as the notices given on the website, suggest this cannot be done, which is not what 1and1 support are saying.

So my question is: is what I'm trying to possible? and can someone guide me on what to do within the 1and control panel?

On the nameserver on slicehost you'll want to edit your MX record for your domain to point to 1and1's records; you'll probably have to get that info from 1and1. For instance, on slicehost (I assume they're handling your DNS info since they handle your website) you'll want the following:

Slicehost name servers:

domain.com MX mail.domain.com 10

mail.domain.com A 1.2.3.4 (or whatever information 1and1 gives you).
