533 rcpt error

Hello,

Background: I have a webhost which provides email, but I use godaddy email because I wnated to give my client dedicated email service that would work regardless of the host we used. now, when the host setup mx records they did it like this

0 mailguard.myhostcenter.com (their email server)
10 smtp.godaddything.com (godaddy's server)
50 etc.godaddything2.com (godaddy's backup server)

Godaddy recommended those settings, but the webhosts server should have been at like 75 not 0. But, in calling tech support a million times they said it should not be a problem, so I left it alone because I didnt want to edit mx records again resulting in more downtime for clients email.

MX records were propogated and everything fine as of Sept. 7.

NOW, scattered problems receiving and sending off and on past week. As of yesterday, total no receiving email. Email seemed to send outgoing ok. Could not receive. If I sent an email to someone@mydomain.com, it just seemed to get lost in the nether, no bounceback message to original sender, but no email for someone@mydomain either.

When using dnsstuff.com, I got this error message for connecting to godaddys servers.

Could not connect: Got an unknown RCPT TO response: 553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)

Connection to webhost server seemed to go ok.

MX records have now been updated (this morning) to have godaddy at 10 and 50 and the webhhost at 75. I guess I have to wait for them to fully propogate. They are showing correct at dnsstuff, but I am still getting the 553 message.

Also, since the webhost servers were connecting, would a copy of the mails that had been sent to and from be made to that server? And, how come their servers didn't kick in to deliver or receive the mail? How can I make that happen in the event that godaddys servers are down?

Furthermore, am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for any help...
