Bounce error message
i get the following error when trying to send an email to some people that i've sent plenty of email to in the past... (reason: 550 5.7.1 This system is configured to reject mail from 216.219.239.109 (DNS reverse lookup failed))... Any suggestions?
I'm using sendmail btw. Last edited by E-B : December 5th, 2003 at 12:12 PM. |

That reason was from the remote server telling you the exact reason for rejection. The bounce was generated from your sendmail.
Apparently that remote server has changed their setting to reject mails when a reverse dns lookup failed. Rejecting mails based on that is a pretty strict policy. There is nothing you can do about it but to send mails to that person using yahoo/hotmail, or to inform him to remove that restriction. |

I cannot somehow add the reverse DNS lookup to my IP address somehow or something?

I got the issue resolved with my hosting provider because the IP did not contain an PTR record. Thanks
