Question Your comments on mailserver usage

    Hi all,

a network I administrate has the following numbers for mailserver and mailbox usage. I would like to ask your comments in regards to whether these numbers are to be considered acceptable, healthy or compatible with general mailbox usage policies. Personally I think they are of such a size they challenge good functionality and reasonable restore times, but would like to have second opinions on this.

First, it depend how the system is configuered. A fully networked with SAN and load balancing can obviously take more use than a single server.

But several e-mail accounts that have gigabytes of information stored does seems (IMO) a bit too much.

I would personally set a storage limit which would depend at the number of accounts and available total space. I would also set a file size limit, in case they try to send big files, as that should be done with FTP not e-mail.

    Hi,

Thx for your answer. This is a single server setup. What are your current quota?
