Best email server/service to avoid blacklists/spam folders

We currently use Godaddy email servers for business-to-consumer emails (day-to-day communication, responding to enquiries, etc. NOT mass/marketing emails) but increasingly messages are going into customers' spam folders, or are being bounced because the Godaddy server IP is blacklisted somewhere. The IPs change each time and presumably other Godaddy users are sending spam through them causing them to become blacklisted.

(We are sure the content of the emails is not causing the problems at the moment and we have SPF records set up for domains too.)

We have reported the blacklisted IPs many times to Godaddy and they as much as admit there is a problem, but they simply recommend we use their Exchange service instead. They say it is more secure and has newer servers, so the server IPs are less likely to be/get blacklisted, but they refuse to give us any more technical information for "commercial reasons".

We have also looked at Microsoft's own hosted Exchange service, but they can't give us any technical information to reassure us their server IPs won't get blacklisted either.

The other option we are looking at is Google Apps for Work Mail which we understand uses IMAP rather than Exchange servers.

Does anyone have an opinion on which of these services is least likely to have our emails go into spam folders or be bounced due to blacklisting, or any other thoughts on the subject?

    Hi,

I'm really surprise that godaddy's smtp servers are blacklisted.
We have clients using GD's smtp relay for several years and never had a blacklisting issue with their servers.

I don't believe moving to Exchange smail with GD will fix your problem.

Can you comment on which smtp server (server fqdn) you are using?

    Best,
    Eyal

    Hi Eyal

Thanks for the response, some of the Godaddy server IP addresses we've had emails bounced from and found on blacklists such as SORBS and LASHBACK recently are:

    173.201.192.108
    173.201.192.234
    173.201.192.109

    Here's an example failure message:

    From: Mail Delivery System

[Return Code 550] sid: sdXB1o00U4ZcoE801 :: SC-001 (BAY004-MC4F47) Unfortunately, messages from 173.201.192.108 weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to Troubleshooting.

We've now decided to switch to Rackspace instead. We gave up trying to get a response from Godaddy. Their customer service is terrible since they stopped offering email/ticket support. The only way to speak to them is by calling or live chat, which is not always convenient and often has long wait times.

We'd still be interested to hear your thoughts though..!
