error: 550 User Not Local. Authentication Required to Relay. What does it mean?
I keep getting this error while trying to send mail using ArGoSoft's email server software.
____________ "error: 550 User Not Local. Authentication Required to Relay." I checked on ArGoSoft's site and his FAQ has a reference to this error, however, the solution regards cisco pix routers. I have a Netopia R-9100 router. what do I do. SMTP authentication is not enabled on the mail server and is not enabled on the clients. If I turn on relaying then email is able to be sent. Turn off relaying and no longer able to send email. What gives? -Michael |

You need to turn on relaying but restrict it to only your IP address. The hint is given, you are on your own to configure your ArGoSoft mail server since I doubt anyone here uses it. |
