Unhappy Exchange 2000

I'm new to this thing Microsoft calls Exchange Server and I'm wondering if someone can help me out here. I need to make some configuration changes and I can't seem to find the Exchange Administrator program. Someone else installed the fugging thing and I don't think it's properly installed. I've tried mmc but I can't find the snap-in tool for it.

On another (similar) note, I need to config the exchange to host the mails but the company's domain and emails are hosted by a third company (Blinkster). From what I managed to learn these few days, I need to get a popconnector for the exchange in order to get the mails OR I need to register to redirecting services like DYNDNS or no-ip (running on ADSL) and tell the host to redirect to the addresses setup from the redirecting services?

Exclamation Hehe Hehe

Whats your OS/version of Exchange your friend "thought" he installed? Are you on AD? Logged on as Admin?

Is that Brinkster or what is "Blinkster"? From your explanation it might not be wise to "jump ship" till you get a "grip on the basics".

Exchange 2000 was installed on the Windows 2000 server DC. Yes, I am logged in as Admin. The problem is I think the Forest/Domain Prep wasn't runned properly during Exchange's installation. Anyway, I'll get the CD soon and I'll try running Domain/Forest Prep.

Brinkster is the domain hosting company my company is using atm. I'm planning to setup the Exchange to host the emails but since I'm running on an ADSL connection with Dynamic IP, I registered with no-ip.com to get a constant address online. From that, I will try and contact the domain hosting company to redirect the emails to my Exchange server. I hope it works though.

I've managed to set up the exchange server and made it to receive emails from the no-ip domain that i've set up using the free redirecting service from www.no-ip.com. I can send emails out through the exchange server without any problems, and it will have the @<domain>.no-ip.com domain, also, I can ping the domain without any problem internally and externally. Now the problem is receiving emails, which doesn't get to my server. I tried telnetting into my exchange which works only on the LAN but anywhere outside, connection fails. Anyone has any idea what could be the problem(s)?

Check out Mark Fugatt's Guide here:
http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF002.html

Also this assumes you either:
1. have static IP / your own internet domain
OR
2. You have to obtain a domain with a dynamic IP setup using redirection services such as from www.no-ip.com and tell your internet domain hosting company to redirect the emails to the no-ip.com domain.

Note: If you don't have a third party domain hosting, you can use the no-ip.com domain you made instead. It should be <yourdomain>.no-ip.com.

That's about it, it's rather straightforward. Oh yeah, point your web browsers to http://<yourdomain>.no-ip.com/exchange for the OWA (Outlook Web Access) and you'll be prompted for Username and password which is the same as your domain.

I wish that you have a smoother time configuring your server than me.

Just in case anyone is wondering, my friend and I poked around the server and he has come to the conclusion that it may be my ISP's NAT server.

So instead of going around in circles any longer, I will try another method; using POP connector program to pull the emails from my domain/mail host and dump it into the exchange server. I hope this works.

I'm afraid you would have to purchase them yourself.
