Question interfacing with MS Exchange server

Hi,

I need to write an interface to MS Exchange using J2EE. I want to create a db with all the Outlook Contact data, appointments, email, etc on Exchange. And be able to keep the db current as new contact records and email are created.

Are there any opensource tools that can help? If not any tips/knowledge about getting data out of MS Exchange would be great.

I am a complete NooB when it comes to MS Exchange. And need to figure out how big of a project this will be.

Thanks,

Not quite sure on this, but by the sounds of it, your asking for a way into Exchange to get user data out. And if it was taht easy then Exchange would be pretty vunerable.

Getting address however will probably be easy enough, as if you fire up Outlook and Outlook Express and goto the address book, one of them pops up says "Some external application is trying to access the contacts, do you want to allow this time" So there will be some API there I suppose.
