Intranet Mail Server, Internet Mail Server, and a lot of users

Hello Everybody:

I have a nice question for you.

Imagine, I have a building with 40 people working with computers with internet access. Everybody have an internet mail account (and everyone uses Outlook Express). As you can imagine, everyone has its own mail configuration on its own pc, so here it goes my question:

Is it possible, with the help of an Intranet Server (doesn´t care if it is running under Windows or Linux OS), to download all the emails on that machine, and then redistribute it to the people on the LAN without allowing them to directly connect to the net, and, to make them send the mail via the intranet server, once more, avoiding them from directly connect to internet??.

I Hope you understand my question and can help me with any info or ideas.

Thanks in advance!!.

There are literally thousands of different ways to making this happen..

from totally redesigning your network, to setting up a domain for your building and isolating it with a firewall...

Personally, it sounds like you want to have a seperate domain or subdomain, with its own email services. Then you can use a firewall or proxy to allow only your email server(s) to get past that proxy or firewall.

Either way, I think it goes way beyond the scope of this forum.

Start a thread over in the networking forum, and lets talk about your design, and its requirements first... Then you can get into what email server(s) to use and how to configure them.

No worries.. You just need to build the foundation, before you start to build the house
