i just realized in the past two days or so, i wasnt using my isp (internet service provie) to connect to internet. what i found out is that when i connect to net, i was using my ip number as a username and the phone i connect to is some really long number ( looks like a international number or something like taht). i was able to connect onto the net, but it slow me down like hell. so i was just wondering if anyone know how this happend and do i have to pay for the two days i used them cuz i check my connecting history with my isp and they showed that i was connect to isp in the past two days.

please answer me, i just want to know if i will get in trouble with it or pay for it.

I would contact your telephone provider and ask them to check if there is any international or premuim calls on your account for the days you think you have been dialing the wrong place.

Regarding having to pay, if you have been dialing a international number, yes you will probably have to pay, as it was done from your line.

Regarding how, sounds like either
i) Virus
ii) Third party software has changed the dialup details, some porn dialers do this, a friend was loggin on to a porn dial here in the UK and a 20 minute email and quick surf session cost him ££
iii) Someone entered some details in on your machine.

Get your machine checked for virus.

Also some of the IE popups for installing software can install Dialers, so if you ever clicked a "Yes" on a IE pop up, that could be the culprit.

Either way, sorry to here about that, but always double check the number and credentials are correct before dialing up.

crap i didnt notice that until like two days later and i always leave internet on so its going to cost me more than hundreds.

so u can still serve the net even if you are dialing into the international number caused by virus or porn of other stuff?

Yeah, it will be a fully working Dialup POP, with access to the internet, but cause you are dialed through there server, would could possibly be paying a fortune, and they will get a return on you using that server.

This could be the case, I would suggest you contact your Telco first and double check,

can u explain what u mean by that? especially the part where u say "they will get a return on you using that server"

also how much do u think it would cost if i connected to that international number for like 10 hours?

They have a premium phone number, like millions of other companies. When someone rings them on that number, your Telco cahrge you XXX a minute. and the company gets xxx of that money.

Look, there is NO point talking about it until you check, you might find that the total charge is (£|$)10. You need to ring them and find out, or is this a case of you can't ring them, becuase its yours folks line?
