James mail server dns problem

Hi all,

I have a problem with receiving email through Apache James. Sending email goes fine, but I think there is something wrong with my dns setup.

I am using everydns.net for my dns setup. Everything is running on my local machine.

I need to change the dns settings in config.xml. Do they mean, the dns settings of everydns.net?

Thanks in regard,
NIS

I am having the same problem.... I have setup the DNS in my config.xml correct, but that doesnt seam to have anything to do with the not recieving... but to answer your question, the DNS is the IP of the nameserver for your domain, so you just plug that in, but if you run DNS on the same machine as james i believe it is setup by default to localhost so you would be fine... if you goto www.dnsreport.com you can check if its setup and test your mail server... The wierd part i am having is that everything seems to be setup correct but it tells me that i am running an open relay and when i configure outlook to connect it timesout?? please any suggestions are helpful... my domain is lilec.com.... Thanks for your help, in advance..........

Send a message via AIM to avitar.net
dns could be incomplete....

I had a similiar problem with a different mail server... it came from the fact that the ISP was set up by ppl who thought that if you have an A and MX record, and are sending from a fulley qualified (like domain.com) domain (as opposed to mail.domain.com), you are a more secure mail server.

umm, could you clarify... I am running my DNS server and set it up propperly... i do not understand what you are saying about DNS being wrong... please elaborate on your DNS solutions... i have searched and if your e-mail is an open relay it will just delete your incoming e-mails.... i have no idea how i set up james to do this and didnt think i did... mabey you could address this... or the fact that outlook is not connecting... i can connect to it on the website in my last post... sorry i didnt tell you an e-mail account try walter@lilec.com and you can see thet it connects fine... why do the e-mails get deleted and outlook cannot connet?? any ideas thanks....
