If you're hosting multiple domains, it's best to have the full email as their login info, so that you can differentiate the users on the different domains.
dovecot is probably installed correctly, as it is connecting to your imap port. There seems to be a problem with authentication.
Also, try taking a look through the logs, /var/log |
if you look at the link, i did some sort of virtual user setup - was that wrong?
