Question Need help w/ SMTP server...

Hi,

My OS is winXP pro. I just installed argosoft freeware version. I connect to the internet through a router. The router IP is 192.168.1.1. The argosoft computer has IP 192.168.1.2. The router WAN IP is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.

When I launch argosoft, all seems to be ok. When I go into outlook express to set up a new mail account, I specify 192.168.1.2. as the smtp server, I use my normal email as the email address (i.e. me@myhost.com), and I enter the authentication info that matches what I set up in argosoft.

When I try and send an email from outlook express, argosoft does its thing and everything seems ok. But the mails that are sent never get anywhere.

Any ideas what I need to do to get the smtp server to send mail to the outside world? My router is not doing any port blocking or anything.

I also have a dynmaic DNS service that maps my router's WAN IP to a static name. But I wasn't sure if that ties in anywhere.

thanks,

brian

The reason why the mails are sitting at the argosoft computer is because its not able to resolve the domain names.

Can you check and tell us what are the DNS settings on the argosoft computer?
