POP3 and SMTP.
Ok thanks to the expert guide on the pin I setup a fully fuctioning DNS server http://www.dovedesigns.net Thanks!
Now for another question. I thinks it's simple maybe not, I want to setup a pop3/smtp server. I used the MS Mail server built-in to advanced server 2003 enterprise. It worked, sorta, by that I mean I got to check my mail but when it came to sending and recieveing mail it was a no show. So my BIG question is how can I set up my pop3/smtp server to work? If you know an alturnative to my mail woes please tell me. Also, is xmail for unix/linux any good? |

Sounds like a mail server question and it belongs in another forum. However, I'll check out the DNS side of things and accessibility:
The mail server that handles recieving mail for @dovedesigns.net: mail.dovedesigns.net (68.98.218.110) Trying telnet connections to port 25 (smtp) and 110 (pop3) SMTP: (warning: RACKSERV1 is not a public fully qualified domain name) 220 RACKSERV1 Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 6.0.3790.0 ready at Wed, 5 May 2004 09:53:28 -0700 POP3: +OK Microsoft Windows POP3 Service Version 1.0 <235394187@RACKSERV1> ready. Looks like your servers are live. They are merely configured incorrectly. I'll move this to another forum.
