Postfix recieves mail but won't send...
Hi I have managed to setup a Postfix mail server on a dynamic dns adsl line. I am able to faultlessly get email even from outside domains. Sending mail is another story - any emails sent don't go out they just end up in the queue.
I first tried "direct send" in webmin and then tried using an smtp server specifying the address. Neither have any effect. Below is the output of the last few lines of the mail log... Any help would be appreciated. PS: I have tried a windows version of mdaemon on the same line with success, as far as I know there is no blocking of port 25 by my isp. I have also ensured that port 25 and 110 are redirecting to my Linux box. Running a port scanner confirms that both ports are open. Sending internally works without a problem as you will see from the log... Hi
Don't use webmin, try to configure main.cf file in hand. It will more easyare.. Seems you have some entry of 'smtp.saix.net' on your main.cf file. Have a look on it. Your main.cf file may be in /etc/postfix/main.cf or /usr/local/etc/postfix/main.cf location(default installation of some linux server). as your outgoing 25 port is open, remove the line contain 'smtp.saix.net' and try to send mail. Let me know the result. ~~ Have Fun ~~ Ahamed Bauani http://www.bauani.org/ |

I also find it odd that if I do a tracert to the machine on the local network I get no host name - could this be causing the problem. I am running Suse 9 using a draytek router runnig dyndns - as I said I have been able to send email with other windows based email clients in the past. Your help is much appreciated.. Dwane |

1st of all try to send a mail to: dwane@datazone.homedns.org
If it's not work, remove this lines from your main.cf files: canonical_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/canonical virtual_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual relocated_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/relocated transport_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/transport sender_canonical_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/sender_canonical After all sucessfull configuration we will put thouse lines again with propar info. As you have this line at your main.cf: mydestination = $myhostname, localhost.$mydomain,192.168.1.11,datazone.homedns.org,itsyourmove.co.za Your mail server will receive and locally delever the mail for: itsyourmove.co.za datazone.homedns.org Anyway, if all FAIL, I will give you a basic main.cf file for your mail server.. ~~~ Fave Fun........
