Probably a stupid question...
I just set up a mail sever onto my WinXP Machine (Running Apache 1.3 for a HTTP Server). The question I have is: What will my email be?
Wouldn't it be something like: accountname@myIPAddress ? If it matters: The mail server I am using is: CommuniGate Pro |

you need to set up the acct for the domain name that you will be using.
I.e. if you reserved example.com then your acct setups will be <user>@example.com hth...Frog

using 'example.com' as above, you need:
(a) to have a DNS MX record to let senders know that your machine accepts mail for example.com (b) a DNS A record to link the MX name with your IP address (c) to configure your server to accept mail for that domain You'll have to ask elsewhere for more on the DNS, whoever registers your domain should help I think I dont think user@<dotted-quad-IP> would work, except for people sending mail direct to you, rather than via their smtp host HTH |
