I have installed a WhiteBox EL box (RHEL clone) and have sendmail and smtp using sasl_auth all up and running. I and my other clients can send and receive mail through their accounts using either Mozilla, Thunderbird, Outlook Expresss or Outlook.
Eudora 6.0.1.1 and the latest Eudora Pro? Nope! I can't seem to try anything in this client to get it to work. Is this a known bug? Do I need to set something else on the server. I'm allowing plain logins and am attempting through Eudora with auth allow and all the ssl stuff to never. TIA Oh, I guess I should say Eudora will receive mail but gives a "Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed [user's IP here]" So, why only on Eudora? Last edited by dumorian : May 12th, 2004 at 06:42 PM. Reason: Important detail |

Solved
Whew!! This sasl auth stuff is a can of worms!
Anyway, the short of it.. I'm using shadow as the MECH and Eudora was trying to authorize via cram-md5 I think. Anyway, that is not supported by the shadow mech. I removed all but plain and login from the methods in sendmail.mc.. recompiled and poof.. now all three clients work. It seems that RHEL does not come configured to turn on these default lines in sendmail.mc and I've had a time getting this done and that done and another done to make this work. But, it is working now. |
