Very NEW to Red Hat and SuSE Linux and I need some help here please. I am in a new IT group with a very small company of 65 users around and my boss wants me to create a FREEE!!! small email server similiar to Microsofts Exchange 2000. He gave me the charge card to get Red hat 9 and SuSE 9 and told me to buy them regardless. SO I GOT BOTH professional suite versions the most expensivefrom CompUSA and now the big question here. I installed RH on one box and SuSE on another for evaluation of the Email Servers. Did he misunderstand something here? I really do NOT see a true full blown email client like Microsoft Exchange. If there is anyone know what page I should look on in the books? I appreciate your help. My boss is like screaming at me to get this built.

As far as the howto you can try: http://www.lifewithqmail.org/ If you are looking for point-n-click tool, you are urged to use ur boss charge card and hire someone to do it for you. |

I have an old MCSE NT 4
It is a small firm and I needed the work so he hired me for odds and ends jobs with supporting the users here. Its very good money for me right now since I been laid off for awhile. Ok so donwload the full installationof SuSE then goto Qmail and download that is my net experiment. I already asked him about hiring someone to do this and he told me thats why he hired me is to self-teach myself. Hey who is to question that? At least I get to learn new things. So far SuSE 9 is easier to install then Redhat 9. I thank you for your help so far.

This high school deploma means nothing. These days in the IT world, experience comes first degree/cert comes second. Don't be surprised if you get laid off in a month or two. Quote:

Saying qmail is the best without evidences could lead to a flame war. Every circumstance may vary. For yours, you will need a reliable and secure MTA and can get it up and running in a short period of time. Not only that, you just need to install/configure it once, then forget it. If you choose any other MTA, you can't forget it but to spend hours on BugTraq, you just don't have that kind of spare time. |
