Redirecting bounces with sendmail
I am sending lots of emails out (NOT SPAM). According to RFC 2821 they must bounce to the MAIL From header however I would like some way of processing them in sendmail, so that as far as I'm concerned they are being bounced to a different address. For example I would like to send an email with MAIL From: reply@domain but I would like sendmail to understand when this is bounced check the nature of the email (product notice, offer notice etc) and either redirect the bounce or send a copy of the bounce to a specific email address (productnotice-bounce@domain, offernotice-bounce@domain)
If this can't be done just redirecting all bounced emails to bounce@domain would suffice.
Thanks in advance

I'm assuming you mean for me to use this as an extra header? This does not work, all bounces still ending up in /var/spool/root. Any other ideas?

Are you sure those are not double bounced messages? Why should any bounce be delievered to root in the first place?

Because it's being sent by root and yes, I'm sure they're not double bounces.
