Switching Mail Servers
I have a Cobalt Qube3 mail server (linux based), and I am switching it over to an Apple XServe. I have resetup all of the accounts on the XServe, and this weekend, I will change the mx record to route all new mail through the new mail server. The Qube3 is server1.mysite.com, and the XServe is server2.mysite.com. I have to keep server1.mysite.com setup for other reasons.
So, when I switch, if I have anyone still setup to use server1.mysite.com, I'd like for it to automitacally sende it through server2.mysite.com. Is there a way to make the server forward all incomming and outgoing mail to another server? |

I believe the function you are looking for is called 'smarthost'.
This allows you to accept mail on your MX server or SMTP server and forward it, either by domain or complete server, to another host. Check your configuration/options and see if this option is there. |
