Trouble with SMTP Smarthost Setting
Hello! I'm trying to use CDONTS to send e-mails in my web pages. Right now all the e-mails are just sitting in my Queue Folder - which I think is because the smart host setting on my server is incorrect. The problem is I don't know what the smart host is... Does anyone know where I can find it? I am assuming it's different than the fully qualified domain name but I don't know what the difference is. I'm running windows 2000 server.
Thanks in advance! |

I don't know CDONTS, but I assume it is a mail server software?
The "Smarthost" is the host where all outgoing mail is delivered to for further distribution. If you have put your own host name there, the mail will loop. Your ISP's mail host should be put there (if they allow this) or another central mail distribution server (if you have one). In case of doubt, leave empty. HTH, M.
