Unable to connect to the Courier-IMAP Server
Hi All,
I am having a big problem with my mail server. I am running qmail with vpopmail in our mail sevrer. POP3 clients can connect and can download mails without any problem. But IMAP clients are not able to connect to the server Courier-Imap is runnig perfectly. I can connect to the port 143 of the server.(telnet ipaddress 143). But see this Escape character is '^]'. * OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 UIDPLUS CHILDREN NAMESPACE THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT THREAD=REFERENCES SORT QUOTA IDLE ACL ACL2=UNION STARTTLS] Courier-IMAP ready. Copyright 1998-2004 Double Precision, Inc. See COPYING for distribution information. a login username@domainname password Connection closed by foreign host. I restarted imapd several times but no luck. All the mail clients are refusing to connect to the server. Netstat -lp shows that couriertcpd is running and up. ps -A also displays couriertcpd. I tried to kill using its PID and started agian but still the same problem exists Please anybody is there who can help me ??? Thanks and regards Deeps |

Reference:: http://forums.devshed.com/t146790/s.html&highlight=xinetd
Not sure how to link to my prior post so here is the guts:: instructions:: try this...[assumes RH9\Fedora] /etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd stop /etc/rc.d/init.d/imap start /etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd start and see if the pop\imap login for Squirrelmail works. LMK if you have success. You didn't indicate the OS you are on, but if POP3 works, you may have IMAP loading after XINTED and this prevents IMAP from taking the port first and working correctly. hth...Frog
