Vpopmail and ODBC support?

Hello,

I recently started setting up a qmail server on a mandrake 10.0 box. I am to the point where I need to chose a pop3 server. So far vpopmail looks like the best choice for my needs do to the web admin and webmail integration.

The only thing that vpopmail does not include is ODBC support. I need the ODBC support for the MSSQL Database that we use to store the users in. (I wish it were MySQL or PostgreSQL) I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to get ODBC support for vpopmail. I have heard of qmail-sql, but I am unsure of whether it will work with vpopmail. If anyone knows if that is possible let me know.

That or if you could point out another solution for qmail that includes a webadmin, webmail, and odbc support.

In my searching I found Helios-qmail, which looks rather intresting, but again does not have ODBC.

Thanks in advance.

I was doing alittle more searching on the subject when I came accross something rather intresting. It said that one could use the sysbase drivers in vpop to connect to mssql. Is this correct? If it is then that would solve my problem quite nicely.

While, I've never set up VPopmail, we've connected to MSSQL from *nix for years (from perl, PHP and C). We use freetds for a low level driver and then use DBD::Sybase to connect our perl apps on *nix to MSSQL. Maybe you could use freetds with Vpopmail and Sybase driver as well. PM me if you want instructions on how to set up freetds (there are a couple of tweaks you need to do to get it to work for MSSQL).

Hmm, I was looking at vpopmail's readme.sybase. It says that you should not use sybase for a production server because of a lack of testing and intrest in sybase. Has anyone had any experience with the sybase extention of vpopmail? Is it stable?

The only other problem is that the DB user/pw/ect are all hard coded into the vsybase.h file. :/

The other option for us, if we can't get the sybase -> mssql working, is to use mysql. Then we would have to have mssql export records to mysql for vpop.
