Exclamation Vpopmail DNS Problem

dear all,

i have a problem regarding vpopmail and dns. I have configured mail server with vpopmail in one linux box. I have another linux box configured as dns and web server. my mail server name is mail.abc.com and webserver and dns server name is web.abc.com. I have created some virtual domains in vpopmail like qwe.abc.com, xyz.abc.com and some users like URL, URL.

i have also configured sqwebmail in mail.abc.com from where i can easily send and receive mails in any virtual domains usiong usernames as stated above.

the problem is, when i send mail from terminal of web.abc.com i am unable to send. I have configured my dns server and keep a line with MX to point mail.abc.com.

when i send a mail it says could not send mail, host not found.

What can i do ???

thanx in advance
utsab

I would like to know the answer to this question too. I had basically the same problem. I had 2 machines: One was the mail server and the other was the web server, both running DNS. I wanted to make sure that my web server was able to send email via forms. I ended up simply installing qmail on the web server. I really didn't want to do this, but this also solved another issue... if I had to take the mail server offline, the web server would still be able to send mail because it didn't depend on the mail server being online.

Maybe the answer to your problem is to simply install a skeleton installation of qmail (no need to install vpopmail, since you have no user accounts on the web server). Otherwise, I think you may want to post this question in the DNS forum, since it really revolves around DNS pointing all the mail traffic to your mail server and making qmail/vpopmail respond to the incoming mail as if it originated from the mail server itself.
