windows 2003 server pop3

hi - i finally managed to get the pop3 server to work. this is all new to me ;-)

basically ive managed to get it to send mail, but it wont receive mail. ive tried sending an email to my domain and my hotmail account and only the hotmail account receives it. this is the same when i send an email from hotmail to my domain. are there any ideas as to why this would happen?

i noticed that when i added a new mailbox it came up with a window informing me of the settings etc... ive been playing around with it trying to get it to work and now the message is different theres only two lines of info with no server or login details, so im not sure if ive done something to it.

also - what should i be setting as the mx record, the outgoing and incoming servers are simply URL as it points to www on the dns. this is also an area im not tooo clued up on.

thanks in advance!!!

are we talking about an Exchange server?

if so, you got mailboxes for all your users.
did you enter your domain names correctly during install? the wizards should have asked ( ;-) ) and so, each user must already have the proper user@mydomain.com registerred.
you can check that by viewing the users properties

getting the incomming mail to work is a bit more complicated ;-) depending on a number of factors, my guess is that you're going to set up a virtual smtp server.

but first please confirm we are talking exchange server here. and a bit more specific info please.

Greets, Martijn Beekhuis

Same Problem

I've had the same problem. I can send email fine but whenever I receive an email it does not get to my mailbox, instead it goes to the BadMail folder. I'm not using Exchange but from what I've read I shouldn't have to.
