    Setup Mail Server Using No-IP.com

    Hi there,

I want to use No-IP to setup a amil server as I have a dynamic IP from ISP.

I have setup an account and hostname with No-IP and downloaded the client to update my IP.

What I need help with is setting up the MX records on my domain (I have full access to them via my control panel) to point to my No-IP host server.

The only problem is it all looks a bit complicated in the DNS settings!!

    Any help much appriciated.

    Regards, Mike

Setting up a MX record is pretty easy, just make an A record for your mail server then point the MX record to it. But with a dynamic IP, your dyndns client program and the DNS server are going to have to be able to update the A and MX records when the IP changes. You'll need to get in touch with no-ip to see if this is possible.

My recommendation is to not try to use a dynamic IP as a mail server. In addition to the above, most mail servers will bounce any mail from a mail serve without a correct reverse PTR record, and I don't know how you can set up a PTR on a dynamic IP.
