    Telnet port

    Hi,
For some mail tools like Communigate, for being able to send out mails, we must be able to telnet on port 25 on the server which the mail tool resides. Is there any other mail tool which does not need port 25 but other ports instead?

    Many Thanks & Best Regards,

port 25 is standard port number for SMTP.
For a list of the different protocol used by mail communication, look here:
    http://www.emailaddressmanager.com/tips/mail-servers.html

If you configure the mail server with a different port, the users also have know is has been changed in order to adjust the number on their client.

Any specific problem or reason why you can't use port 25?

    Good day MrFujin,
As my ISP is blocking port 25. I do think no one will try to change such port for the SMTP, right?

    Many Thanks & Best Regards,

Ask your ISP what port they have their clients on that need to host a mail server; then set your server's mail app to listen/send on that port. Most ISPs will let people send mail using port 25, some do require that you route mail through one of their smart hosts using user autentication. You can also look at upgrading to a business services through them, which should definitely allow you to utilize port 25.
