Links don't work in Email (Outlook)

    Hi:

Not sure if this is the best place for this message but it's not programming and it has to do with email...

I routinely sent emails with a link to a site and a HTTP GET parameter similar to:

    https://www.domainname.com/select_show.php?show_id=18

The web page reads the parameter "show_id", compiles a list of companies associated with the show (id 18) and uses a "header" command to redirect to "select_company.php". "select_company.php" takes the GET variable (show_id), creates a list of registered companies and presents a drop down list of companies who can login to an application.

This works perfectly except when the email is read by Microsoft Outlook. In that case, the GET variable is apparently being lost, so the SQL query in "select_company.php" fails. As well, if the link is copied and pasted into a browser, that also fails.

If the very same email is read by another client the link is fine... opened in Outlook it fails.

However, if the identical string containing the URL is typed into the browser, it works fine.

    What could be causing this?

    Thanks

How are you providing the link? Are you just providing the full address itself as text and aiming for the mail client to link it? Or have you defined it as an HTML link or such?
He who knows not that he knows not is a fool, ignore him. He who knows that he knows not is ignorant, teach him. He who knows not that he knows is asleep, awaken him. He who knows that he knows is a leader, follow him.

    My Bad!

After examining the code, it was actually a programming error... had nothing to do with email at all.

    Thanks for your reply, though.

    Oops
