SMS - Kannel, sending messages through HTTP, Message rejected error

Kannel displays the message, "Message was rejected" when sending using Kannel's http.

The URL of the SMSC of the service provider is correct and works in a browser. However the get-url returned is encoded with & that i think should not be there. How do I solve this problem. please help!

The url set in my kannel.conf file under the http group is that of the SMSC provider and ends with <send?username=un&password=pw&number=X&message=Y>

I am using sqlbox to queue messages
