How to direct back to desktop version of website...

I am currently making a simple mobile version of a website and have been advised to include a link in my pages to direct back to the desktop version of a website in case a user feels the desktop version is better viewed on their device than the mobile version.

The way my site works is that when you browse to the main home page it will first detect (using a PHP script) which device you are using and re-direct you to the relevant version.

How can I do it that when the user clicks from the mobile version back to the desktop version, it doesn't automatically execute this script and re-direct the user back to the mobile version?

Of course I could make another static desktop version without the PHP script but that would be a waste of storage space

Would some kind of true / false amendment to the PHP script work? - So if true direct the user to the mobile site, if false direct to desktop version ...and if link clicked then also direct to desktop version?
