I have just recently bought this mobo and put a 2600+ mobile xp in it, whenever i try to overclock the cpu, it says that the system has failed due to overclocking but will boot right into windows. Would this be a bad sensor on my mobo or is something wrong with my chip?

Well i did some more tests with my bios, and it turns out that if i have my FSB under 200mhz, i get the "system failed due to cpu overclocking" message. When i got the message from my mobo, i let it boot into windows each time, and after it loaded, I'd shut it off to see if i got the message again after rebooting. I don't get the message after rebooting a second time, in fact i only get it if my fsb is below 200 and it's immediately after restarting my computer after bios saves. Does this sound like a hardware or a software issue to you guys? Please help this is driving me crazy.

My girlfriend had some "problems" with a7n8x (nothing after this) motherboard.
It says that FSB is 166, and if I'm right memory clocks is 2x that 166.

But it says during boot that memory clock is also 166.
Guess it's some software problem ( they forgot to multiply it with 2 )
since it's working pretty well. Not anything slower about it.

Anyway CPU is Barton 2500+ [BOX] ...

It was few months ago, so I dont remeber if I tried to run it on FSB 200 Mhz.
Knowing me I did But guess it also reported similar things and refused to work, so I returned it back to setings it came with.

Havent tried to update BIOS, dont want to risk it when it's working. And every now
and then power faliure comes in her neighborhood ...

Earlier today, I read about someone with the same problem(somewhere else). There is nothing wrong with your system--Asus has recently released a new BIOS that fixes that error. Apparently, all kinds of people have been getting that error yet their computers still boot into windows.

Hope this helps.
