AOpen board problem ?

Hello,

Wondering if anyone can help me out with a hardware problem in an AOpen machine. I have an AOpen workstation with an award BIOS. The machine wont boot up. It just put out audible beeps. I've looked up the award site for a translation of the beep code but it is not listed as one of the sequences of beep codes. I hear the beep right when the PC is powered on. So its right in the POST routine. Nothing shows up on the screen either. The beep is heard as soon as I turn on the power. The CPU fan runs when the PC is powerered on.

The beep code is : One long repetitive beep that repeats itself about every 2.5 to 3 seconds. Some beeps are for example 1-2-2 and the length could be like long-short-short. This one is just a long beep every 3 seconds.

I've removed everything attached to the board including ram. I've even tried a different processor with everything else pulled out. Still keeps beeping. I've also taken the processor from the bad machine and put it into a good machine and the processor worked just fine. Any ideas ?

I'm begining to think it might be a problem with the mainboard. How do I find the problem if it is somewhere on the board ?

Thank you for your time.

Cheers,
Al

That beep is the board telling you that theres something wrong. it not memory cause the 3 beeps right after each other not long. its either that its saying there no video or that theres something wrong with the processor. Check and make sure your video card is in good and that the processor is down in the socket all the way. If there both in good then if you can, test them in another computer.
