Asus board & speed switching + other
ok.. I have a Asus A7N8X Motherboard and im having some issues with it. Nothing major, but its annoying.
First. I cant explain why, but At random, when my computer boots, the clock speed of my cpu jumps. I have an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ CPU. Sometimes my machine will boot, and see the 2400+ in the post, and other times it will say 1800+ in the post. No idea why it keeps switching, i don't touch the bios settings at all. IVe looked them over, and currently, the CPU External Freq. is set to 133 MHz which im fairly sure is the correct setting for the 2400. Any ideas on why its foogling up? Second, It doesn't seem to remember what OFF means. I tell Windows XP to Turn Off the computer, it closes everything down, but then it kicks the computer over like it does when you hit the reset button, then just reboots. It ALSO does this when I Hold down the power switch (which i have set in the Bios for Soft Off) This isnt really affecting the performance (tho the clock speed switching may be) its just getting aggravating. |

I've always been leery about updating the Bios, just cause of the chance that it wouldn't do something right and i end up with a $150 paperweight :\Ill give it a shot tho, and hope it works, and doesn't fubar my mobo. Something i have to ask tho.. Quote:
