ASUS MOB P5GDC V deluxe
I have installed the new MOB ASUS P5GDC-V Deluxe, but hard drives are not recognized by MOB. First tried One PATA and 2 SATA. Finally I tried with one SATA only, failng which tried with one PATA only.
Also, I get an error signal in BIOS saying: Primary Master ATAPI Incompatible, Primary Slave ATAPI Incompatible, Third Master ATAPI Incompatible Primary, Master ATAPI Incompatible Tried to install Windows XP Home and WINDOWS 98 and it say hard drives cannot be recognized. (Before this message, it loaded all the files and then did it 2 more times, in a do-loop. And nothing happened in the end! ) Changed the cables three times and made sure everything is placed and connected properly. On the boot sequence, it recognizes one hard drive, floppy and CDROM Drive, but not in the Main section of the BIOS. Bad MOB or bad BIOS or anything else? ============================================== 02.14.2005 After some experimentation, I could make the MOB work. I updated the BIOS. I dont think it did any good. In summary, Asus board can recognize only SATA drives or PATA drives. I eneded up using the 2 SATA and attched the PATA as an external drive vis a USB connection. It is supposed to work in a PATA-SATA mode as well, but does not? The "ATAPI incopmatible" errors are gone now, dont know how. Does any one know how to make the MOB recognize both the SATA and PATA drives? ============================================= 02-24-2005 I gave up trying to have both 2 SATA and one PATA. So, installed the 2 SATA HDs on RAID 1 and used the PATA HD as an external drive via a USB connection. Also, the ANTEC case kind of small and crowded making the the two SATA drives very close without ventilation making them really warm/hot. So, after repostioning the SATA with enough space between, the PATA had to be installed outside anyway due to lack of space inside the case! Last edited by Ashsaar : February 24th, 2005 at 10:14 AM.
