asus p4pe problems

i did a clean install of winxp pro and it takes literally 5-10 mintues to boot up. it just sits on that windows loading screen forever. once im in windows, it seems to run fine. i have quick boot enabled in bios. im running a 350W psu on a 1.7ghz p4, which is not yet overclocked. please help me...

it is probably having trouble with a driver loading. make sure you have the latest drivers for all your hardware, or on the other hand if this problem didnt occur untill a driver update, try rolling back the driver. if you have a nvidia video card, you really want to check it for updates, the xp driver that came on my install cd was slow to start up, and took days to shut down. the updated driver was all it needed.

ok i installed the latest video driver and as for the latest mobo driver i dont think updating is going to do anything. i cant see how mobo can just be handed out in this state. 10 min startup isent normal and is a rare problem as far as i know.

Yeah get the latest drivers for all your hardware, including the embedded mobo hardware.

well try, this loads only the bare minimum of drivers required to get the PC up.

If it doesn't hang then its likely that there is a problem driver somewhere

do you have any cd media in the cd drive, any other hard drive on the system. what is your internet connection, and are you networked? is your bios setup right to your processor, ram....ect.
have you checked for firmaware updates, chipset updates, do you happen to know what hard drive you have and being xp, have you installed all the aspi drivers and files, if you buy a new drive they come on the cd installer. what dma is the drive 33,66,100,133 what is the board rated for and is it set to it? actually if you could give a run down of what you know and have done this maybe easier.
